  • About Ohoko Dojo   ( 2 Articles )

If you have had no prior martial arts training, we begin with basic skills and start to build from there. In addition to the basic hand and foot skills, we teach the use of 18 different weapons. Experienced martial arts practitioners will quickly recognize the efficiency of the art. The emphasis is on survival and the ability to defend yourself and your loved ones. This is an original combat art, not a watered down sports version. These techniques have survived because they work. All students must be over the age of 19. We offer evening classes from 7:00 - 9:00 Monday through Thursday; Saturday mornings by appointment only.  There are Sunday classes-mornings from 10:00 - 12:00, and afternoons from 1:00 - 3:00. Students at all levels may attend classes Sunday through Wednesday. The Thursday evening and Sunday morning classes are reserved for senior students at the Black Belt level of training.

  • About The Bujinkan   ( 1 Article )

"In an era over eight centuries ago, when Japan was composed of many independent feudal states and war was frequent, Daisuke of the Togakure family once suffered heavy losses in a battle. Retreating into the mountains, he came upon the teachings of the warrior/priest Kain Doshi. There in the fog-shrouded peaks of Iga Province, Daisuke studied long and hard a new art of combat, new ways to use the body and spirit, a new vision. From this mystic teaching, he learned to move freely without being perceived, and how to work his will without action. With the knowledge of these secrets, Daisuke emerged from the mist of Iga the master of a new concept of accomplishment. Thus was born the legend of the Shadow Warriors of Togakure." (From a tale of the origin of the Togakure-ryu Ninja).

The Bujinkan system of Budo Taijutsu is headed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi of Japan. Dr. Hatsumi is the 34th Grandmaster of the Togakure Ryu, one of the oldest of the historical ninja schools. There are 9 different schools that make up the system. Additionally, we study 18 different weapons. Any martial art can teach you to fight, this art will teach you to persevere, to endure and to survive.
